Obituary for Doris J Parks

It is with great sadness in our hearts that we must announce the passing of Doris Jean (Buehrle) Parks, age 74 of DeMotte, Indiana. Better known to those that loved her as "Jeannie. She is now at peace and without pain after a month long battle with a brain aneurysm at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois where she fought hard through nine major surgeries. In a true testament to the strength and courage she was known for, she relented on April 25, 2023, only due to complications that arose afterwards and circumstances beyond her control. She was surrounded by her family at the time of passing. Jeannie was a clerk at EJ&E Railway for 30 years where she was elected as a union leader, well respected and beloved by many even after her resignation. She spent much of her career working in the West End Tower where she started a concession stand working on the honor system for her fellow co workers. Charging only 25 cents for a cup of coffee or can of pop she never made much profit but true to her caring and generous nature, did it mostly as a service to others due to the high prices and poor selection of the company owned vending machines.

In her personal life, she was a loving and doting mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who would often simply introduce herself to others as a "Grandma." Her caring and compassionate nature was immediately obvious to everyone that met her always putting others before self and children above even that. She was always the first to solve your problems and the last to ask for help. Through her selflessness, strength, kindness, wisdom, and independence she became an inspiration and role model for three generations. A true matriarch who touched every person she met and left each one better for for knowing her.

Jeannie is survived by her son: Anthony(Treasha) Parks, her grandson: Anthony(Kayla) Parks, her granddaughter: Tosha (Cody) Spencer and her great-grandchildren: Ashton Parks, Benjamin Parks, Izzy Hounchell, Anicka Parks, and Brantley
Hounchell. She Is preceded In death by her mother: Elsa, her brother: Alan, her sister: Debbie, her grandson: Jeremey and her great grandson: Anthony.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 3, 2023, from 5-7pm and a Funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 4, 2023, at 10am at Frazier Funeral Home In DeMotte, Indiana.
