Wayne A. Smith age 85, passed away on Sunday, February 13, 2022 at Franciscan Health in Rensselaer with his loving family by his side. Born to Charles and Mabel Smith on September 17, 1936, in Caro, Michigan. Wayne was called by God to the life of Ministry at the age of 17. He attended Huntington University, where he spent 4 years in college and another 3 years in seminary. The first 30+ years of his Pastoral Ministry was with the United Brethren in Christ Church and continued with the Assembly of God denomination where he started/planted new churches. His Pastoral Ministry required him to relocate several times. He passionately served at St. Mary's Hospital in Decatur, IL as a Chaplain for 30+ years. Wayne is currently a licensed Minister with the Illinois District of the Assembly of God. Wayne's hobbies were woodworking, gardening, landscaping, attending church, and as a younger child he sang Second Tenor, in a quartet. He enjoyed life to the fullest, spending as much time with family and friends was very important. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Left behind to cherish his memories is the love of his life of 64 years, his wife Lois Smith, children: Charles(Melissa) Smith, Christina Roach, and Curtiss Smith, grandchildren: Emily, Amanda(Todd), Hanna, Thomas, Kyle, Tyler(Alex), and Mabel, great-grandchildren: Josiah, Karsyn, Baylee, Parker, Hudson, Noah, Wayne, Wesley, Leanna, Jamison, Brooks, MacKlynn, and Alaenah, brothers: David and Lowell: sisters: June Harkless and Nancy Harkless. Wayne is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Mabel Smith, sister, Phylis Smith, and son-in-law, Robert Roach.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 17, 2022 from 11am-1pm (CST) with a funeral service at 1 pm(CST) at Calvary Assembly of God located at 1317 15th Street SE, DeMotte IN.
